Festival organisers for the DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL AT DONINGTON PARK have today announced that all camping tickets have now officially SOLD OUT.

This includes all RIP Park Farm packages, including Tipis and Shacks. In addition, all combined coach travel & camping tickets have also now completely sold out. There are still a LIMITED number of the RIP "Platinum" hotel packages available.

Organisers are now urging anyone planning to attend this year’s Download who haven’t yet picked up their tickets to do so NOW – arena tickets for the full weekend and day tickets are still on sale but are likely to all be snapped up soon. For all tickets and packages please visit www.downloadfestival.co.uk/tickets.

For the first time in Download history, this year’s festival will be extended to FOUR STAGES, with over 100 bands playing across the weekend of 12-14 JUNE.

Courtesy of RED BULL BEDROOM JAM, the new stage will host performances from the previously announced WE ARE THE OCEAN, WHITE MAN KAMIKAZE AND AUGER BANE, plus MY PASSION, DISSOLVED IN, THIS CITY, TWIN ATLANTIC, LINCHPIN, FALL FROM GRACE, DON BROCO, NONE THE LESS, EXIT AVENUE, YOUNG GUNS and FIRST STRIKE.

In addition to these exciting new acts, For the first time ever an unknown band will get to play the main stage in a live broadcast from their Bedroom. This world first will see the virtual gig beamed to thousands of rockers ahead of the performance from Marilyn Manson on the Saturday.

Here’s how…
  • Upload your video to www.redbullbedroomjam.com. Don’t worry about the quality, a mobile phone video of you playing in your bedroom will do…it’s the talent that counts (a good tip would be to check out Don Broco’s video on the homepage!)
  • Get your fans to log on and watch and rate your video…
  • The most popular artists get selected for a live-streamed performance…on broadcast day, the Red Bull Bedroom Jam crew collect the musicians and selected mates and fans, and the winners rock out in front of the camera!
For this one off special, videos will have to be uploaded by Friday 5 June. The winners will then be informed on Monday 8 June.

In other news, it has been announced that ROCK RADIO will be powering this year’s DOWNLOAD RADIO, and broadcasting throughout the weekend.

With three stations across Manchester, Scotland and the North East of England, Rock Radio will be bringing their team of rock DJ experts to Download to deliver everything from the latest festival news, exclusive interviews with artists to what’s happening backstage. Heading up the presenter team will be Rock Radio Manchester’s Paul Anthony, Rock Radio Scotland’s Tom Russell and legendary rock writer, broadcaster and presenter of Rock Radio’s Classic Rock magazine radio show Mick Wall.

The station will be activated from 9am Wednesday 10th June through to 12pm Monday 15th June, and available through the local frequency of 87.7FM.

Rock Radio Station Manager, Ciaran O’Toole said, “Since the launch of 96.3 Rock Radio, one of our ambitions has been to team up with a major festival and the Download festival is the best in Britain.  We’re delighted to be working with them to make Download 2009 one of the best yet.”

The Leicestershire Constabulary have released their latest initiatives and messaging to help make this year’s event as safe and secure as possible for all those attending.

For the third year in a row, the police will be using a text messaging and email service aimed at gathering crime prevention information from people coming along this year. The service was launched to encourage festival-goers to give the police information about crime related matters in advance of the event.

Anyone with information can text ‘police’ and then their message to 86688 or email downloadfestival.intel@leicestershire.pnn.co.uk.

The information will be treated anonymously and will enable the police into build up a picture, in advance of the event, of any potential trouble.

PC Kev Walker said; “The festival is expected to attract tens of thousands of music fans and we know that the Download website, and other online fan forums, are very popular so it made sense to set up an email and text service to encourage fans to let us know if they hear of anything that might be useful to us.”

“The information we receive via email or text will be treated in the strictest confidence so we would urge people to get in touch.”

The police and the Leicestershire Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) will be using modern technology to get crime prevention and sensible drink and drug messages to people at this year’s festival. Workers from the Drug Intervention Programme will be walking around Donington Park with portable Bluetooth boxes, each with the capability of sending quick-fire messages to mobile phones within a 25m radius. People with Bluetooth enabled mobiles will receive a note asking you if you want to receive a message.

If you accept, they you will be sent an animated message, which will contain information on a range of topics, including crime prevention and advice on alcohol and drug use.  The service is free of charge.
